This will be a list of my issues and thoughts on Werewolves, a lot of this I'm sure staff is already aware (and hopefully actively being addressed) of but I felt it needed to be all laid out in one place.
Quality of Life issues
1) Cannot tell which wolf is talking while in form.
This is extremely frustrating and confusing in all normal functions of the game be it plan, gsend private sends and is exacerbated by the fact that there are very few available wolf forms currently so essentially all active wolves have the same form and it's very difficult to tell who is talking at any given time.
2) Cannot do a command search on a werewolf in form.
Currently any wolf in werewolf form is not considered a player in game and thus doing who nix or who demi will result in a Player not online prompt.
Class Issues
1) Lack of forms
Currently there is a very limited number of wolf forms with no real varying boost of difference in ability, strictly speaking with the exception of a minor attack boost and defense boost there's no real benefit to the highest level wolf form over the others and with that being said we attain the highest available wolf form at around lvl 24. It's boring and discouraging even if the intention was to have forms simply as an aesthetic, that aesthetic is currently not there.
2) Lack of attack power/accuracy issues
Lack of wolf forms bleeds into this very heavily, we are 100% dependent on wolf form in this version of the game as we lack berserk or any special attack in human form. with no forms beyond the lvl 24 fiery hell wolf it means we see a very small incremental boost in attack power based simply upon leveling (4 attack per lvl) like every other class, but unlike every other class there are no new powerful weapons to upgrade to we are dependent on forms that aren't there and there is an extremely large gap between damage output of wolves and almost every other class in the game. The damage output is just not there at the moment.
not sure if this is a wolf issue or a game issue but im also finding myself with nearly 400 attack power missing very often on mobs 30+ lvls lower than me in combat aggressive equally as much as missing on mobs of equal lvl. this is extremely frustrating when coupled with a very poor damage output.
EDIT: attack timer is also 3 seconds bare handed which is the same as everyone else with powerful weapons (3 seconds) again not sure if this is intended but its glaringly lopsided against us given the mediocre damage output
3) Lack of defensive power/gear choices.
Lack of wolf forms bleeds into this as well. in this version of the game Gear means everything to wolves, in DFC gear itself had no benefit outside of the effect of the gear but with the way armor values are set and how wolf form is set, gear does matter. In DFC defenses were based on evade skill and the defenses set to each particular form themselves. As it stands Armor values for wolves are not only mediocre but way more restricted as gear choices are very limited. Essentially we are cloth wearers with lvl 3 shields and no forms to make up for that defensive hit
4) Lack of utility
Pretty self explanatory, right now werewolves offer nothing to the realm and have nothing unique or rewarding to gain outside of an aesthetic (shapeshift) in which is very limited at the moment. (no track, lack of forms etc, 100% dependent on form, restricted armor choices with no benefit, 100% aggressive to monsters, wrecked by magic etc)
5) Stats,health,class archtype,available skill choices
As it stands werewolves from my understanding are built off a pre-existing class archtype called Druid/beastmaster which in that game were a melee/spellcasting hybrid. stats and skill options are reflecting that as our skill/expertise options are spellcasting ones, str is a secondary stat at 18 behind con/dex which are capped at 22.
One of the only skills i've found to be useful at all to werewolves is Unarmed.Striking which is currently impossible to max train as the last 3 levels require a base dex of 25 which is impossible to attain. outside of this skill nothing else has been found to be beneficial as most of it is spellcasting related or just doesnt do anything.
In DFC werewolves were granted 600hp highest in the game with Trolls, this made sense a bit when compared to skeletons and zombies as we wore the worst armor, bled, diseased, poisoned while skeletons and zombies did not, they wore the best armor, had parry skill, regen etc among othertools that helped in their survivbility. this was also a balancing tool against the potentially more powerful 1 shot classes of the games, being stabbers/drainers, tappers, particularly tappers as they also had access to lvl 5 shields and could 0 anyone, right now the game is allowing for tappers to be way more powerful offensively as they can now all smash hunt, very effectively, be more defensive as they have access to lvl 5 shields and armor is the same, (combat parry being extremely powerful in this game) across the board and potentially have a much larger hp pool than they ever had to soak up more damage than they could ever afford to in dfc.
Conclusion
I'm aware that staff is aware of many of these issues and I hope they are being actively worked on but as it stands it is extremely discouraging to play a werewolf and imo there really is no reason to be one when there are many other superior options in evil. We are essentially gimped skeletons with no other real distinction. We double poorly, we take hits poorly, we are gear restricted, we have 0 utility or benefit to the realm, we lack any real benefit that we previously had. I'm currently not sure what staffs current idea or plans are for where wolves should be in evil and the game as a whole, or as to what role and benefits that should be afforded to them. but as it stands the class feels like a craftsman with double, that can only wear the worst gear, cant craft, can only double with their bare hands, and is restricted to a form that in it of itself has restrictions in place with 0 tangible compensation for that restriction/restrictions. Essentially, imo theres just no real reason to play werewolf at all over almost anything else, not even for aesthetics.
