First off let me say, yeah... my suiciding all my characters was pretty hasty but whatever, apparently I can get all those levels back and more in two hours. But it was born out of frustration from one massive troll abusing an obviously broken system and the indifference of the staff for what this trolls actions have on the community.
First off lets talk about the things that are known to be broken in regards to PVP.
Alarm runes bug out if more than one are placed in room
Teleport has essentially no limitations
Track doesn't work
Walls don't exist
Guard doesn't work
Rez scrolls grant full hp/fat/mana and place no timer on the person who was raised, allowing immediate action
Many classes are completely unviable in combat (Monk, Coven, Werewolves ect..)
Theres probably more.
Okay, so this is a list of things that are very integral to PVP in DFC and they're also understandably going to take a lot of time to fix.
However, the issue comes in the fact that people acknowledge these are problems and don't hold themselves back from taking advantage of it.
Evil is a pretty demoralized realm. It may have the most people online at any given time, but easily half of them are sitting afk inside the vamp tower.
You can debate the reasons for this, but it's a fact.
For hours and hours and hours every day Maroh takes it upon himself to invade the realm and abuse the issues listed above for his own personal amusement, making it difficult / impossible for lower characters to experience the game. The response from Good realm? "Group together, set a trap, get some leadership!" The response from Chaos "<silence>" the response from staff "we're busy, deal with it".
Lets explore the full depth of the problem:
Alarm runes are bugged and Maroh can teleport.
Archangel typically alarm runes the realm when he is online, because of the bug preventing multiple alarm runes from working properly if they're in the same room that means if Archangel is afk, there is essentially no way to know when Maroh enters the realm, unless somebody chooses to park at the good docks every time the ship lands to watch for him. Since Maroh has the ability / desire to play at basically any time of day, it's literally impossible to know when he may or may not be invading a large portion of the day. The only solution? Assign someone the task of watching out for him all.day.long.
Teleport
There is no delay on how often Maroh can teleport as long as he has the power for it and isn't on a timer from using another ability / being stunned. It is also well known and stated by the staff that Teleport is not working the way they want it to and they are developing a solution to it to bring it in line mechanically to how it should be. Yes, I understand that Ogres and Coven also possess the same ability, but so far none of them have taken it upon themselves to abuse it the way Maroh does constantly.
Evil doesn't have that many players active who have the ability to take on Maroh, so if none of the higher levels of the right class (Tapper, really-high level stabbers / drainers) are online / available, theres little that can be done. A bunch of lvl 20-40s banding together just lead to a pile of dead bodies from ball spells. And the reality is, only 2-3 people seem to have the desire to deal with his bullshit anymore and the rest would rather afk in the arch.
But it goes further then that.
There are no walls and no track and Maroh doesn't always invade alone (and has increasingly been bringing a tagalong with him, Cxeira being the most problematic). This compounds the problem because Maroh and his friends have absolutely no problem abusing Rez scrolls to instantly rescue one another with little to no risk. While we end up being able to more easily track the movement of the non-wizards Maroh brings with him, there is no way to block them in or track exactly where they are if they run into an area that hasn't been runed. BH demon was never a very populate race and while Archangel may be online a lot, he spends a pretty hefty amount of that time afk.
And again, with so few high level players in Evil actually playing, theres nothing much the people who were late to the show (and thus aren't already somehow 60+ in less than a month) can do.
Why? I don't know, one guess would be is that we as a realm are fatigued by having to spend hours at a time chasing down one asshole abusing mechanics that everyone admits aren't working properly.
If someone from evil has the audacity to point out how taxing, frustrating, and outright scummy these actions are we're told we're being cry babies and dramatic. Or that we just need to band together, set a trap, this is a beta, ect.
Well, frankly, none of that really works that well. Because of the busted and abuseable mechanics of Teleport, the only viable way to set a trap for Maroh is to stack a few people in a room spamming attacks for Maroh and wait for him to decide to come to you.
Problem is, when he brings Cxeira with him, who is high enough level to Scry all/almost all of the players in Evil, Cxeira can scout for him and tell him not only where players are for him to target, but whether or not they're grouped together.
Since there is no way to track down or box players in, hunting down and killing Cxeira is an exercise in futility. Thanks to the macros everyone uses to cruise around, any of these players can travel from one end of the realm to the other in a matter of seconds. Again, the only real way to combat this would be to place a group of players in a choke point and have them spam attacks on Cxeira and hope to get them as they macro through the area.
So, at any time Maroh and friends please, they can lock down the entire realm for any amount of time they want since the only way to kill them is to wait for them to come to you (and with Scry, they can easily spot the traps and go hunt for someone who is alone). There is no counter play to their actions, you're forced to play the game at THEIR pleasure while you sit at your computer, staring at the screen slamming a macro over and over again until you catch and kill one of them. Then continue to stand there spamming a macro until they release. Because, if you don't do that, then one of their buddies will zoom in, raise them and run away.
In closing:
Do I understand that there is a lot to work on and that those fixes take time? Absolutely. Do I understand that the developers want to improve the game? Absolutely. But if you read discord chat it becomes pretty apparent that many players in Good realm, and many Staff members don't care to improve the morale / fun side of the game by addressing the obvious, glaring problems caused by one person who can't help but troll. And any attempt to bring up those issues is met with ridicule and contempt.
