Magical or non-magical traps that work similarly to alarm wards sounds like an interesting concept that could be used for balance. Would do damage (and unhide), or impart a slow/stun or negative effect when walked on but be one time use.
Just a thought.

I know Ogre's used to have something like this back in the day. I remember having like a level 16ish orc that had more RPs than my 50+ troll because I would lay one in every room from docks to town and people would run over them and die while following a high level that had something macro'd.

BH Demons used to have a bomb trap and I believe a fire trap,they missed most of the time (I was never successful at convincing staff to give us a pain trap ) but occasionally you'd get a kill on someone who was 0'd and running around. Or just a lowbie who invaded or was running around whiel you were invading would trip one and get killed.
